Torc Robotics, a subsidiary of Daimler Truck, announced it had signed an agreement to acquire Algolux, a company specializing in computer vision and machine learning. Torc is developing an “autonomous ready” Freightliner Cascadia, with Torc’s virtual driver, in order to safely and reliably bring SAE Level 4 autonomous trucks into series production in the US within this decade. Algolux’s technology, which combines deep learning, computer vision, and computational imaging, will help Torc strengthen key capabilities toward its commercialization of self-driving vehicle technology.
