Oita University and Eisai Co., Ltd. have developed the world’s first machine learning model to predict amyloid beta accumulation in the brain using a wristband sensor. This model is expected to enable screening for brain A² accumulation, which is an important pathological factor of Alzheimer’s disease, simply by collecting biological and lifestyle data from daily life. This model was published in the online edition of the peer-reviewed medical journal Alzheimer’s Research & Therapy on December 12, 2023. It is expected to be an inexpensive and easy-to-use screening method to identify those who need amyloid PET or CSF testing.
