In this Insight, Jon Deedman argues that beyond simple regulation, there is a need for extensive education in critical thinking and digital literacy to protect tech users against the manipulative and misleading effects of extremist AI content. He suggests that a bottom-up approach of digital education should be pursued to fortify defences against extremist AI co-optation and complement top-down regulatory efforts to ensure an effective and responsible AI agenda.
