Researchers in the United States are developing a roadmap to make “organoid intelligence” a reality. Organoid intelligence is a new field of study which involves lab-grown tissues that resemble organs, called organoids. These three-dimensional structures are derived from stem cells and are capable of brain-like functions. Dr. Thomas Hartung and his team from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and Whiting School of Engineering in Baltimore, Maryland, are leading the charge in this new field of study.
