With the emergence of digital-image generators such as Stable Diffusion, DALL-E, and Midjourney, which make use of deep-learning models and other AI systems, the debate about the future of AI has become increasingly prominent. This is especially true when it comes to intellectual-property rights, as copyright is difficult to protect online, and these expert systems can be argued to create unique outputs. Despite this, moral and philosophical objections to the idea that these systems can be creative remain, due to the supposition that only a human or something with a brain can create.
