Apptronik, a startup from University of Texas in Austin, has been quietly building humanoid robots for the past eight years. Their latest version, Apollo, is able to carry out factory tasks and has been tested by Mercedes. The company is now raising $100 million in venture capital to build more Apollo robots. Meanwhile, AI chatbot Grok mistakenly published false claims about former President Donald Trump’s dentures during an interview with Elon Musk on X. This error came after Trump falsely suggested that an image of Vice President Kamala Harris’ rally crowd was an AI-generated fake. In other AI news, Codeium has launched a new coding engine called Cortex that can process up to 100 million lines of code at once, making it more efficient in applying tweaks and fixes. Codeium is one of 25 startups featured on Forbes’ Next Billion Dollar Startups list.
