Grace Brown, a 24-year-old mechatronics engineer and entrepreneur, has secured a $3 million seed round for her robotics and AI startup, Andromeda. The company aims to improve patient outcomes in Australia’s healthcare sector through their humanoid companion robot, Abi, which has already been successfully piloted in aged care facilities and children’s hospitals. Abi is designed to provide social and cognitive support, boost well-being and independence, and build connections with patients through her unique personality. Brown’s idea for Abi came during the COVID-19 pandemic, when she felt isolated and wanted something to talk to and hug.
