This article discusses the use of open source hardware and software to create an IoT infrastructure that allows for interoperation from multiple sites. By using Tor as the network glue, scripts for .onion resolution, Node-Red for logic, and MySensors/Arduino for local sensors and actuators, the author has created a system that bypasses corporate-owned IoT data and access, giving the user full control over their data and network.
