A consortium of engineering and robotics specialists have developed ATRIS, a prototype machine that can autonomously install mechanical and civil services in tunnels. The developers claim it will increase productivity and reduce costs, while also improving safety. The project was led by Tunnel Engineering Services and involved partners such as i3D Robotics and the Manufacturing Technology Centre. While customer feedback has been positive, no orders have been placed yet.
