BMW Group is planning to open a new electric vehicle plant in Debrecen, Hungary in 2025. The facility will be the world’s first “digital-first” factory, using real-time simulations and digital twins to fine-tune its layout, robotics, logistics systems, and other key functions. This is part of the global boom underway in “Industrial AI”, with manufacturers investing in intelligent technology and infrastructure as part of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Investments in AI by manufacturers are forecast to account for 16.6% of global AI sales in 2023, with the goal of improving current efficiencies and future competitiveness.
