Paradigm shifts in computing are regular and often bring about new challenges and opportunities. Serverless APIs are the culmination of the cloud commoditizing the old hardware-based paradigm. This shift has been driven by the need for companies to create monopolies by commoditizing complementary products. The same process of commoditization that gave rise to the cloud will also bring about the next paradigm, creating a new wave of abstractions and a rising tide for tomorrow’s applications.
