Amazon reported a profit of $3.2 billion on revenue that climbed 9 percent to $127.4 billion in the first quarter of 2021, beating analysts’ expectations. Despite cutting back on its workforce due to the pandemic, Amazon was able to make speedy deliveries to customers. The company’s cloud and ads units helped it to achieve this success. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said that the company is continuing to improve the cost to serve in its fulfillment network while increasing the speed with which it gets products into the hands of customers.
