Google Research is exploring how advances in Machine Learning can enable robots to safely and efficiently navigate in human-centric environments. In particular, Transformers models have achieved great success across various data modalities in ML problems. Krzysztof Choromanski and Xuesu Xiao, from Google and George Mason University respectively, are researching how to apply these models to robot navigation.
