At a session of the annual meeting of American Association for Advancement of Science (AAAS) in Washington, D.C., a panel of data scientists discussed the need for more rigorous oversight of artificial intelligence (AI). Megan Price, executive director of Human Rights Data Analysis Group (HRDAG) in San Francisco, highlighted the need for better data representation in criminal justice algorithms, as missing data can lead to erroneous conclusions. Price’s organization also examines AI in the justice system, and their work with the Invisible Institute was discussed.
