The Romanian government has recently unveiled their newest AI assistant, Ion, which will be used to collect information on Romanians in order to understand their wants and needs. Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca said that the citizens will eventually be able to talk to Ion online at the project’s website. This has raised questions about the potential of a RoboCop-style police state clamping down on civil liberties.
