The Compute Express Link (CXL) standard is a new technology that enables interconnection of computing elements such as CPUs, GPUs, System on Chip (SoC), memory, and more in a memory cache-coherent manner. This is particularly beneficial for heterogenous computing, where purpose-built accelerators offload targeted workloads from the CPU, and for increasingly challenging workloads that require lower latency.
