A joint venture between Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech, a startup, and Spanish technology company GMV, led by Qilimanjaro’s Manel Martinez, has won the public tender to build the first quantum computer for public use in southern Europe. This new infrastructure will be installed at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center and will be integrated into the MareNostrum 5 supercomputer, the most powerful in Spain. The development of this infrastructure is part of the Quantum Spain initiative, promoted by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and financed by the European Commission’s Recovery Plan for Europe.
