AlphaGo, an artificial intelligence program developed by DeepMind, made history in 2016 when it defeated Lee Sedol, one of the world’s top Go players, in a five-game match. This victory was significant as it demonstrated the potential for AI to outperform human experts in complex tasks, such as Go which originated in China more than 2,500 years ago and is considered to be more complex than chess.
