Wageningen University & Research (WUR) business unit Greenhouse Horticulture recently planted three cucumber crops as part of the AGROS project. The cultivation of these crops is controlled in different ways, with one greenhouse being managed by a group of experts, another by a Digital Twin, and the third by an artificial intelligence algorithm based on Reinforcement Learning. This project is intended to address the challenges of limited availability of highly qualified staff, increasing costs of resources, and increasing complexity of the production system.
