This article discusses the use of brain MRI scans and deep neural networks in creating explainable AI for personalized clinical decision support systems. The study shows that these networks can accurately predict dementia and provide personalized characterizations for individuals showing early signs of cognitive impairment. The data used was obtained from previously published studies with informed consent and approval from relevant ethics committees. The study also compiled a case-control dataset from seven different sources to train the dementia models.
