GenAI has captured everyone’s imagination and is continuing to mature, but the recent lawsuit against OpenAI and Microsoft highlights the need for stronger global guard rails. AI is already powering many products and services, and GenAI systems such as ChatGPT, Gemini 1.0, Meta’s LLaMA 2, Anthropic’s Claude 2, OpenAI’s Dall-E 2 and 3 and MidJourney are being embraced by individuals and enterprises. Large language models have more than 100 billion parameters, and the second half of 2023 saw the emergence of small language models with fewer parameters. Going forward, research and development in GenAI will continue to grow, and the need for stronger guard rails will become even more important.
