Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been used in healthcare for a variety of purposes, including scanning electronic health records for data and analyzing data in clinical trials. AI in diagnostics has largely been in the pathology space, and the College of American Pathologists (CAP) is pushing pathologists to use AI and pattern recognition software. CAP members have some skepticism about the technology, but investments and validation of tools will eventually pay off in improved efficiency and patient outcomes. Diagnostics developers are exploring opportunities to incorporate AI and machine into new tools to identify new targets and tell when something has gone wrong in the pre-testing process.
