This article discusses a novel internet of things (IoT) sensing platform that uses ultrasonic guided waves (UGWs) for structural health monitoring. The platform is designed for real-time monitoring and sensing of pipelines and similar structures, and can also be adapted for other ultrasonic measurement tasks. The system was evaluated for its ability to detect fouling, which can lead to reduced efficiency and increased operational costs in industrial equipment.
