Sigfox SA has secured a contract to supply the technology for South Africa’s new smart water meter ecosystem. The nationwide Sigfox IoT network will be used to adapt or replace existing meters, improving revenue collection and service delivery. The network covers 91% of the population and has a track record of supporting large commercial utility deployments. Sigfox’s low-power technology allows devices to run on the same battery for over 10 years.
