This article discusses the recent advances and technologies in emergency response, security, and disaster management applications, with a focus on the use of edge computing. Edge computing, enabled by technologies such as mobile and multi-access edge computing (MEC), offers flexible and viable solutions for applications by enabling computation at the network edge. This has led to the emergence of a multitude of applications that bridge the gap between the cyber and physical worlds, such as augmented reality, virtual reality, and connected automated mobility. The article calls for original research articles and reviews on the support of intelligent IoT solutions and edge computing.
