Konstantinos Mamouras, assistant professor of computer science at Rice University, has received a National Science Foundation CAREER Award to develop a decentralized approach to the Internet of Things (IoT) in order to improve efficiency and relieve network congestion. His proposal, titled “Programming Abstractions and Formal Reasoning for IoT Application Development,” aims to utilize small IoT devices at the edge of the network and reduce the need for data to be moved to a central location for processing.
