Recent reports assessing the value of generative AI in healthcare have been conflicting in their conclusions. To gain an insight into how accurate and useful generative AI systems could be for primary health care, Silicon UK spoke with Dom Couldwell, Head of Field Engineering EMEA at DataStax. Couldwell discussed how a ChatGPT doctor would differ from existing telemedicine or virtual healthcare services, noting that the biggest change would be around how the service is delivered. He also discussed how generative AI could be used to provide more natural responses to questions, improve the bedside manner of online services, and be combined with other AI-powered services like image recognition. NHS England is already investing in pilot projects to explore the potential of AI in healthcare.
