The federal government has given approval for the use of Omeife humanoid robot to advance digital literacy in Nigeria. Developed by the Uniccon Group of Companies, Omeife is the first African humanoid robot and is programmed to speak multiple languages. At the signing of an MoU to deploy the technology, the national director of the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics at the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) expressed excitement that the technology is coming from a Nigerian tech company. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo also unveiled Omeife to a global audience, emphasizing the federal government’s commitment to harnessing talents among Nigerian youths in the area of Artificial Intelligence.
