This article discusses the concept of a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) and its tri-level hierarchical coordinated operational framework. It also introduces an Improved Pelican Optimization Algorithm (IPOA) for optimal scheduling of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) within the VPP, as well as a machine learning-based approach for securing the optimized generation data from cyber threats. Lastly, the paper explores the use of the Prophet model for forecasting spot market prices in the day-ahead market.
