This article discusses the use of advanced machine learning and deep learning models for predictive maintenance planning and statistical control in the production processes of the future, known as Industry 4.0. The integration of intelligent sensors and actuators with physical machines allows for automatic collection of data, which can be used for maintenance and quality control. The article highlights the importance of correctly implementing these processes to avoid failures and improve performance. The Special Issue focuses on developing advanced models to support the zero-failure and zero-defect concepts of Industry 4.0.
