Image-analysis tools based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) are becoming increasingly popular in the life sciences, as they can help researchers save time and effort when analysing images. Fernanda Garcia Fossa, a biology PhD student at the State University of Campinas, Brazil, was able to use an AI-based tool to analyse her images of liver cells automatically, freeing up time to focus on other tasks related to her research. However, many researchers lack the data-management skills needed to use these platforms, which is holding the field back.
