Splunk has launched a platform for ingesting data from sensors, industrial equipment and internet-of-things (IoT) platforms so that it can be analyzed alongside data collected from IT environments. The Splunk Edge Hub is designed to be deployed in edge computing environments and reduce the total amount of data that needs to be transferred back to an instance of the Spunk analytics platform. This approach makes it possible to remotely monitor environmental conditions and identify anomalies indicative of an outage that might be prevented. Observability tools are being used to improve processes and identify and block suspicious activity.
