The digital transformation of laboratories is a rapidly evolving field, with advances in automation and digitization fundamentally changing the way labs are designed, built and run from the ground up. Several technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and laboratory information management systems (LIMS), are helping to drive this transformation, enabling labs to operate more efficiently, with increased speed, accuracy and flexibility. This article highlights some of the key technologies fueling digital transformation and explores the impacts they are having on laboratory efficiencies, such as improved data management, automation of manual tasks, real-time monitoring and analysis, enhanced compliance and traceability, and improved research capabilities.
