A recent audit by NewsGuard has revealed that top chatbots are echoing false narratives from a Russian state-tied disinformation network. The investigation found that these AI tools were aware of and even cited fabricated narratives from websites run by John Mark Dougan, an ex-sheriff’s deputy living in Moscow. The chatbots were tested with 570 inputs and responded with disinformation in one-third of the cases.
