A new study from Carnegie Mellon University shows that people with autism are using chatbots like ChatGPT for help and advice in the workplace. However, the study also found that the advice given by these chatbots can be questionable and there is debate within the autism community about their use. The study was led by Andrew Begel, who heads the VariAbility Lab, which aims to create inclusive workplaces for people with disabilities. The study recruited 11 people with autism to test online advice from a chatbot and a human career counselor, with the participants overwhelmingly preferring the chatbot.
