Tech giants like Google, Microsoft, Facebook-parent Meta and ChatGPT-maker OpenAI have provided advertisers access to text-writing and image-creation tools to help them use AI to create ads. However, employees working in Elon Musk-owned X are pushing advertisers to use the platform’s AI chatbot Grok for the same but reportedly, they are not interested due to multiple reasons. Grok, developed by another Musk-owned company xAI, cannot create images and its ability to answer prompts and create ad copy is described as “basic” and ultimately unhelpful for experienced social or brand managers. Advertisers are also hesitant to use Grok due to its training to be “sarcastic” and even to curse in its responses.
