Apple is expected to offer new AI features in iOS 18 and its other operating systems as an opt-in service, as a way of allowing users wary of the technology to steer clear of it. The company has partnered with OpenAI to integrate its ChatGPT technology into iPhones and other devices, and is also in talks with Google to incorporate Gemini into its operating systems. Apple believes that by outsourcing the chatbot function and offering AI features as an opt-in service, it can distance itself from any potential controversies and give consumers the choice of whether to use it or not.
