This article discusses the potential use of artificial intelligence chatbots to simplify pathology reports for patients. A cross-sectional study was conducted using 1134 pathology reports from a hospital in Brooklyn, New York. The results showed that chatbots were able to significantly decrease the reading grade level of the reports, but some reports still contained errors. This suggests that chatbots have the potential to explain pathology reports to patients, but should not be used without review by a healthcare professional.
