Chinese tech giant Baidu’s generative AI chatbot Ernie Bot has accumulated more than 100 million users since its launch in August. Baidu has upgraded Ernie Bot with its Ernie 4.0 large language model, which has improved the chatbot’s conversational understanding and added synthetic image and video engines. Baidu has also released a premium version of Ernie Bot with expanded usage and early access to new capabilities. Ernie Bot is being used to improve natural language search and generate summaries for Baidu’s primary search engine. Baidu has also synced Ernie Bot to comply with China’s generative AI regulations.
