OpenAI’s ChatGPT, a chatbot released last year that is able to generate poems, essays and other works with just a short prompt, has sparked a wave of investment in the field of artificial intelligence. Amazon has announced plans to improve its Alexa voice assistant with generative AI, while San Francisco-based Anthropic is seen as a leader in the field and has its own chatbot, Claude. Amazon has now taken a minority ownership position in Anthropic and will use its chips and cloud services to develop its next models. The deal promises to help customers of all sizes to develop new generative AI-powered applications to transform their organisations.
