AI is becoming increasingly popular and accessible, with apps such as Paradot and Replika providing people with access to AI’s that use machine learning to send “genuine” responses and are programmed to text like a real human. Nigel Crook, director of the Institute for Ethical AI, has warned that people could become too deeply enamoured with the chatbots, and lose touch with reality. Despite this, regular users of AI chatbot systems have blown up in recent months, especially since the launch of ChatGPT, which had reached 100 million users by February.
