Stability AI is also developing an open competitor to ChatGPT, which is expected to be released in a few months. The upcoming flood of sophisticated chatbots may make the technology more visible and accessible, but it could also complicate efforts to predict and mitigate the risks associated with it. ChatGPT has been known to make up facts or adopt problematic personas, and can be used for malicious tasks such as producing malware code.
