A recent study published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States has found that GPT-3, the machine learning technology that drives ChatGPT, can do a lot of smart things, such as churn out text that comes across as written by a human, write computer code, hold conversations, play chess, and solve university-level math problems. The study suggests that this technology may show signs of human-like intelligence, although it is still far from a human-level understanding of language and semantics.
