Baidu Inc. unveiled China’s answer to ChatGPT, Ernie Bot, via a recorded video. Billionaire founder Robin Li took to the stage to introduce the AI, but instead of a real-time demo, he talked over a scripted video of interactions with the AI. The launch disappointed investors, and Baidu’s shares fell 6.4%. Questions remain over Ernie’s ability to match OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which has impressed with its natural language processing capabilities.
