Liu Qingfeng, founder and chairman of voice recognition firm iFlytek, has urged China to speed up the development of its own ChatGPT-like language models in order to benefit industry and the public alike. He believes that these models are the biggest leap in artificial intelligence technology and that China is lagging behind the best chatbots in the world. He believes that China must have a strategy to catch up to and even overtake the US in some areas in order to benefit from the enormous industrial opportunities and vast social impacts of such models.
