The United Nations’ Digital Economy Report 2021 highlights the importance of data and cross-border data flows in development, providing opportunities for developing countries to tap into affordable 4IR technologies and create new products and services. However, Africa still lags behind in digital transformation, as seen in Oke et al. (2020)’s article on the perceptions of the education sector on 4IR.
