Vector databases are becoming increasingly popular with the rise of machine learning technologies and the explosion of innovation and adoption of large language models and generative AI. Major cloud service providers and established database makers are incorporating vector search capabilities into their offerings, and there is also a growing list of smaller companies offering open-source vector databases. Recently, both Google Cloud and Couchbase expanded their vector search capabilities, with Google Cloud adding support for more databases and integrations with LangChain, and Couchbase introducing vector search as a feature in its Capella DBaaS and Couchbase Server.
