The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation has released the revised draft for its National Policy on Official Statistics, which focuses on creating a cohesive framework for the use of big data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning in creating and releasing economic and social statistics. The policy aims to provide an overarching framework for providing reliable, timely and credible social and economic statistics to assist decision-making within and outside the Government. It also envisages the creation of an integrated data system, optimisation of administrative statistics, innovation in surveys to reduce the burden on respondents and continuous augmentation quality of official statistics.
