The United States Department of Energy (DOE) has developed a plan to speed up the country’s progress in AI and big data analysis. The plan, called “AI for Science, Energy, and Security”, was the result of a set of workshops that took place in 2022. The report names six AI capabilities and talks about how they could change DOE’s programmes, from controlling complicated systems to building basic models. The report also describes the cross-cutting technologies that are needed to make these changes possible. The report talks about the potential of AI to drive new scientific discoveries and speed up the pace of those findings.
