Meta, a data infrastructure company, has recently developed Velox, a project that helps unify and consolidate data management systems. This project is being offered to the open source community in the hopes of contributing to the industry. Velox was created in response to the rapid growth of AI and ML use cases within Meta’s infrastructure, which has led to the development of specialized data computation engines and libraries. However, this fragmentation has made it difficult to maintain and enhance the data infrastructure ecosystem.
